At Root Source CBD, we want to share our knowledge of CBD with our customers. We will be exploring various CBD products each month to provide up-to-date research, products, and sales! Introducing... Flower Month this April!

All month long we are going to dive into the benefits of CBD hemp flower and multiple avenues of use and ingestion.

Let’s start by exploring the benefits of smoking CBD hemp flower.

1. Effects are quick!

You will generally feel the effects of smoking CBD flower within 3-5 minutes. This is because of pulmonary ingestion, which is essentially a fancy word for inhalation. This pathway allows for CBD to be absorbed into your bloodstream through blood vessels in your lungs. Once the CBD enters your blood, it is carried directly to your brain. Since this method of ingestion is so direct, it also offers the highest bioavailability; meaning your body will absorb about 60% of the CBD. Smoking CBD is the fastest method of consumption and provides the highest amount of bioavailability.

2. It isn’t intoxicating

While Δ9THC is present in every cannabis plant, it is far less available in the hemp variation. Hemp plants have high percentages of CBD, other cannabinoids, and terpenes, with 0.3% of Δ9THC or less. This means that you will not experience any psychoactive effects. Smoking CBD flower provides the same relaxing and calming feelings in your body as you would when smoking Δ9THC without the temporary side effects, such as:

  • Coordination issues
  • Cottonmouth/dry mouth
  • Red, irritated eyes
  • Slower reaction times

3. The Entourage Effect

Research has shown that the hemp plant can provide more potent effects when used as a whole plant (including all of its cannabinoids and terpenes) instead of each specific cannabinoid being used in an isolated fashion. This theory has been named the Entourage Effect. While each cannabinoid or terpene is important, even if present in small amounts, the effects are greater when these compounds work in synergy. Some research shows that terpenes (Indica, sativa, or hybrid) could have stand-alone physiological effects while antioxidant-rich properties, like flavonoids, may possibly enhance the efficacy of CBD.

4. Customizable:

Unique terpene combinations in CBD flower can provide for a customized smoking experience. Indica strains provide relaxing effects, Sativa strains provide energizing effects, and Hybrid strains provide balancing effects. Breeding and crossbreeding dynamic new strains of CBD flower offers consumers a tailored selection of strains.

5. Hemp flower is legal:

Under the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD has become legalized nationwide. All CBD products have to follow specific regulations. Smoking regulated, unaltered hemp flower allows for a natural, collaborative Entourage Effect.

6. Affordability:

Compared to other CBD products, or even cannabis flower, hemp flower is generally sold at a more affordable price.

7. May provide an alternative to cigarettes:

It has become more and more common for tobacco smokers to become CBD smokers. CBD flower helps users with nicotine withdrawal symptoms, including sweating, nausea, constipation, headaches, insomnia, etc. It also allows for a healthier opportunity to satisfy their oral fixation while affording a familiar calming sensation to relieve stress and anxiety.
